Continuing the short-run of song titled posts...ah, who am I kidding, that could end as soon as I reach the end of my short leashed creativity tether.
But have I mentioned how much I love Bodog's $Ts satellites? Because I do. I do, I tells ya. Yes, yes, they can get quite frustrating at times, when you run 3-4 of them, which typically pay only one or two spots, and you finish 3rd or 4th in all of them. But when you win a couple...wow, certainly makes up for it.
Had a nice run the other day, winning three in a row. Two were $16 buyins, the other a $7r, but the end result of the three was a net gain of around $430T. Sweet. Maybe, just maybe, one of these days I'll take the plunge into the $100k (with juicy overlay) that these satellites feed in to. I think I'd first like to reach a point where the buyin is no more than 10% of my Bodog roll. And no, we're not there yet. Perhaps 2/3 of the way there, but not there just yet.
In the meantime, I'll keep taking a few shots at their $30-50 buyins, but my last two attempts at the $30 3k guarantee have gone down in flames to early donktardo play by villians that have gotten horribly rewarded on the river, such as calling into my PF, flop, and turn all-in bets (with me holding JJ) on boards with nothing but rainbow number cards with KQo, only to hit the Q on the river. Pretty gross, but when you're buying in with $Ts, the loss is easier to chalk up to the value of getting great notes on a fish. Well, sometimes.
On a similar note, I followed my own head, as well as the advice of a couple quality bloggers (as well as Tycou, whose blog I can't find), and cashed out my Sunday Million ticket for the $Ts. Now that I've exhausted the $T216 from that win, I can report that the overall results were...well, let's just say Waffles-like. That is to say, pretty much break even. I'll take it, I suppose...over a series of SNGs, and a decent cash in a $3r 180-man, the tournament bucks became right around the same amount in cold. hard. cash.
So overall, poker's actually been pretty good to me these days. Except on Full Tilt, of course, where I don't think I've cashed since...oh...2002, it feels like.
Taking a hospital night off, and rehearsal's bumped to Thursday. Aaaaand, one of my two blog sponsors re-upped for another 90 days (thus dropping a few $$$ into my FTP account), so I should actually be able to play the Skillz game tonight. Of course, it's on Full Trashmondo Poker, so my money is dead before I even register for it. Tonight it's PL Omatard Hi, which makes the previous sentence triply true. So join in for shenanigans, won't ya?
A foray into writing about the experiences of your average virgin sports car owner hanging tail out on the twisties, and in the repair shops...and oh yeah, sometimes even a blog about Denver local indie music

A Better Evening
Just an update from earlier...the doctors inserted a new trach a few hours ago, and the Good Doctor Mondo's been stable and reasonably comfortable this evening. In fact, if there's no further signs of trach complications, they expect to begin pushing her back towards further progress tomorrow.
I think that's how you spell relief.
Essentially, as potentially (and very nearly) catastrophic as this morning was, it should ultimately just become another bump in the road. I fucking crater sized pothole bump, but one which, once passed, is truly in the past. Hopefully, we can begin moving forward again in the morning.
As she's been sedated and asleep and stable this evening, I have sat here and played some poker, to some success. I played an $11 sat into Bodog's $215 5k guarantee and took it down. Took the $T instead of entering, since that doubled my Bodog roll. But I'm actually likely to put about $165 of that into one of their $100k guarantees soon. Why? Bad Bankroll Management, to be sure, but I've never played the $100k, and in the end, I'd still be playing it for $11. Actually, $22, because I was in two of the sats. Sadly, I went out 3rd or 4th in the other sat, and came really close to winning two of the $215 seats. Oh well. Seriously, I am untiltable in poker anymore, given the far far more important things in life.
Thanks for your continued well wishes, I know the Good Doctor is gaining strength through them.

It's been several months since Bodog has graced us with the Bodonkey, and I will absolutely by there. And you should, too. The tourney structures are great, and there's still overlay $T for the top few spots. A great online poker value to be had, for sure.

Bodog Poker Open

Yeah......it's on.
Sorta.
Thanks to my win last night, in a 143 player turbo MTT, I may actually try to play an event or two of this. However, I'm still not rolled to go after any of the juicier events, so tourneys such as the Kickoff Event and Main Event, both of which are on Sundays, are definitely out. Besides, I essentially don't play online poker on the weekends (except for very rare occasions when the Good Doctor Mondo is out of town).
Of course, I typically only play Tuesdays now, which leaves the $20+2 Pot Limit HE event my most viable option.
On the other hand, I've final tabled two Bodog turbo MTTs in my last three attempts (with one win), so Monday's $30+3 Turbo Bounty Tourney ($15k guaranteed) may be a better call. Both have double starting stacks.
The event I'd probably most like to play, that is actually within my roll is next Friday's $25+2.50 $10k gurantee, also with a double starting stack. But that seems unlikely, given there's bound to be a band that will take precendence.
Anyway, as I'm definitely not rolled for the biggest events, I send my support over to these guys, I'd dig seeing one of you take down the Main Event.
(Not to shortchange any other bloggers, but I don't know anyone else playing these events...)

Tuesday Night Live Blogging
8:02pm - So far so good, mostly. I'm still alive in all the tourneys I fired up. I did add a $5.50 PL O8, which I'm barely alive in. But in the Daily Doubles, at first break, I'm sitting 87th of 658 in DD A, and 101st of 596 in DD B. Very few showdowns, a few steals, and both times I hit AA, I was able to checkraise all in on non-scary flops or turns, to knock out others.
8:08pm - Just doubled up KK v 66 in the Bodog $10+1 $5k, when I really needed it. Got a bit above average chips. Was pretty much unplayable first hour, and just sat tight.
8:11pm - Tripled up in the Omatard, but still 45th of 55, 27 pay, 219 runners started, so I've got my work cut out for me.
8:14pm - More than doubled up again, versus table large stack...20 of 52 in Omatard, and almost at average chips; can be much more selective.
8:29pm - Huge hand in DD A gets me to 6th of 519. In BB with AA, late position minraised, button called, I 3 bet to 1100, with one call. Flop is Q high, all diamonds (I have A of Diamonds). I was trying to decide what to do, when aggro player on my right shoves (he had KT with one diamond, I think. AA held (no flush), and off we go.
8:39pm - Well, phoo. Out of DD B, when I shoved QQ into AA. I should have known better, as I'd made standard raise pf, villain min-raised, and he checked the 667 flop. I should really have checked behind. So no double cash bonus for me, once again. However, I'm sitting 9th of 434 in DD A, and still alive in all my other events, including the Omatard game.
8:54pm - 2nd break in the Omatard game, and we're on the exact money bubble. 27 pay, 28 left. Sitting in 21st, so if I can be disciplined, maybe I can make a run. 26th of 336 in DD A, but the two players on my immediate right are in the top 10. Lots of chips at this table = lots of opportunity, and I have position. Still, I can't get stupid here.
9:11pm - 2nd break in DD A, and I've had to fold for the last 15 minutes, except for one steal. Still, 49th of 253, with 150% of average chips, but only 3rd in chips at my table. Money broke in Omatard, and still kicking. Also still kicking in the Bodog $5k and $5 rebuys, but not in the moolah just yet.
9:42pm - DD A bubble broke, as did the $5k. Unfortunately, I've worked my way backwards in both, and need to double up if I want to have a chance for a deep run.
9:59pm - In the very same minute, just went out of both Omatard (14th), and the DD A, somewhere like 120th. The funny part is I had AA on the button in DD A, but less than 3 BB. I had the worst cards ever for about 40 straight hands. BB *had* to call preflop with something like Q8o (less than 1/2 BB for him to call), and he naturally caught his gutter on the river. Still kicking deep in Bodog $5k (29 left, above average), and the $5R (about 20 spots from money).
10:18pm - Nice. In the Bodog $5k, I called a raise and a smaller all-in preflop with KQs. Button overshoves, and original raiser folds. I think if original EP raiser calls here, I fold. However, EP folds, so I call. My KQs is up against JJ, and JJ. Yup, JJOK. K on the flop, and everyone's drawing dead. Down to final two tables, and while I'm now below average chips, it's skewed by one massive stack on other table. I like my chances at this point.
10:25pm - Ugh. Just got AA cracked for the first time, in the $5R. Folds to me in the small blind, so I min-raise and get a call. Flop is Q high. I check, he min bets, I bet about 2/3 pot. Of course, he shoves, I call, and he flips KQ for 2nd pair, 2nd kicker (donkey). Well, Q hits the river, and I'm below average, and still not quite in the money. I would have been top 5 if my AA hold. But I've had AA 6-7 times tonight all told, and this is the first time they were cracked, so no whining.
10:51pm - Okay, now I whine. Bodog $5k, five seats from final table. I pick up QQ under the gun, and raise pot, for 40% of my chips, hoping to get a 3-bet, or shoving any flop. Get one caller. Obviously, an AAK flop, and I check fold. Two hands later, I pick up KK, and player to my right shoves. Obviously, I call and am facing AQ, A on flop kills me. fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck. Instead of a shot at $1500, I score a whole $45.00. So fuckin' awesome. As I type this, we're on the very bubble in the $5R. Funnily enough, I can end up cashing in 4 out of 5 events tonight, and barely pick up any ground on my bankroll.
11:11pm - Three tables left in the $5R, and I just saw a dude flop a royal...and get paid. I'm on the drip, trying to at least pick up two spots to the next pay tier, but after getting three outed, my M is about 4.5.
11:18pm - Wow, more than doubled up on two consecutive hands. Caught a miracle A on the river for my AQ to beat JJ (for my only suckout all night, believe it or not...except for Omatard 8, which is and was suckout central), and the next hand, KK held up against AJs. Who knows how this song ends, but I now have a final table stack in the $5R. Hoping to catch a repeat, this is like one of the only MTTs I've won online, and I've actually won it twice, if my recollection is correct. LOTS of work left to do.
11:28pm - AJs beat KJo, funny part being after my big pot bet, he's got 4k left, I bet 3k on turn, and 3k on river (there was already about 130k in pot after flop). I didn't need the flush, but I'll take it. Twelve left, mondo 2nd in chips.
11:44pm - WOOT, FINAL TABLE, coming in 4th in chips, let's see what happens! Almost made three final tables, but I'll take what I can get, and try to rebuild the Bodog roll.
Midnight - Aaaaaand, out in 5th. I raised A9o under the gun, and was 3 bet. I should have either folded or shoved pf, because my pot bet was over 1/3 of my stack. Ran into JJ, and the A on the flop didn't help me when a J followed for his flopped set. So no victory, but I would have been pissed to get so close to so many final tables without making any, so I'm pretty happy. Not to mention, my restarted Bodog roll (post withdrawal) ended up doubling tonight. As long as I keep my buyins small going forward, I should be good for the year.
Good luck all, I'm beat.
8:08pm - Just doubled up KK v 66 in the Bodog $10+1 $5k, when I really needed it. Got a bit above average chips. Was pretty much unplayable first hour, and just sat tight.

So the Bodonkey is Bodover?
That really sucks. Big thanks again to $mokkee for doing such a cool job of hosting it back in the day. Between the overlays, the tough fields, and that awesome end of the line prize, Bodog had stepped up big time for us bloggers. But it's no longer to be, given how Bodog has laid off a group of office and marketing staff (Bodog denies any layoffs of server ops types).
In fact, I attribute more than a small part of this to Google fucking the poker bloggers' page ranks, as without search engine ranking, there's not much need for Bodog to become advertising partners with bloggers, and therefore, no need at all to be running a blogger's tournament series.
In fact, the news for Bodog appears to be pretty rough these days, what with rumors of imminent indictments (based on their sports betting operation), and the fact their poker operation's pretty much been a loss leader.
Bodonkey, I'm really gonna miss you.
Given all the bad news and rumors, I took a step I wasn't sure I'd ever take at that site:

That's right, I cashed out about 80% of my remaining roll on Bodog. It's not much, but I'm withdrawing an amount 4x what I ever deposited, so that part's cool. Of course, it's also less than half of what I had on there before I started my atrocious run of the last seven weeks. If anything, I wish the news had come about two months ago, and I could have avoided donking off half my roll. I could have bought a hell of a nice bass with what I had on Bodog at one point. But I didn't get caught up in the Neteller mess, and don't want to start now, if Bodog suddenly went tits up.
Still, we're told to expect eight weeks to receive payment. Eight weeks? Folks these days would get their homes foreclosed upon for less. So I'm more thankful that we're not even talking month-changing money, much less life-changing money. Nevertheless, the roll I had built before my downswing could have bought one hell of a nice bass if I wanted.
If I ever see the $$$, at that point in time, I'll probably split the amount and deposit it on Tilt and Stars, just so I can have some kind of roll to play with. I wouldn't see that as violating my goal not to deposit at all this year, because it's more a matter of a really delayed inter-site transfer. But given that those dollars are currently in limbo right now (and will be until at least late October), I'm down to about $350 all told spread on three different sites, which means I'm going to be limited to microballin' and playing free rolls before I know it, as I'd rather not blow that goal 2/3 of the way through the year.
Kind of a shame, as I've really enjoyed playing at Bodog, despite it's less-than-optimal software. At least until their RNG decided to treat me as if I were a misbehaving choir boy in a Boston parish.
Who knows, maybe I'll be able to grind up what little I've left on the site, but if it were to go away tomorrow, that would be one site I could leave a lifetime winnah.
May your pots be large, and your outs arrive on the river.

Welcome to the Doghouse
So these guys have jumped into the swirling waters of Bodog's online poker MTTs? I, for one, say welcome! Please drop your chips off at my seat on the way out. Okay, I keed, I keed. I do honestly wish the both of you continued health to your run-good genes, especially in the latter stages.
The interface is improved, the three-table limit is still kinda hokey, but I can deal. Chad's read on mid-to-late stage tourney play at Bodog is pretty much spot on. Players will limp call your raises, or overshove light, near and past the bubble all day, hence the need for strong run-good genetics and mad suckout-avoidance skills.
Still, as frustrating to me as things have been, the site's still treated me better in the poker arena than any other this year, and dive into that pool again tonight, I will. Oh, I will. I just hope I can have the pleasure of running into Don and Chad in my travels, though I suspect they're playing a bit higher than I am, given their recent early successes.
On the bloggerment front, tonight is another week in NYRambler's series. Here's hoping I can improve my finish by one spot. Tonight it's a $2R event, and the password is, as usual, epicfail. Which, oddly enough, describes my recent performances.
Also on tap is the Skillz Series, dishing up double stack bounty Limit Hold'em. I haven't yet registered for that, as I may play the 8pm big ass field $26 at Full Tilt, and will need to give my attention to that. No FTOPS for me, once again. I don't have the roll for it, don't have the roll for $75 satellites into same, the $26 satellites don't pay enough seats, and I don't have a stake.
I may try some of $mokee's challenge SNG's over at the 'dog, though. We'll see.
7:58pm - Well, finally went out of the SNG, but in 3rd place, for $32. Picked up some pots, and played tight into the money. Standard pushmonkey from there.
8:02pm - 7 left in NYRambler's game. I'm on top, and only in for $4, yay me. Would you believe 106 rebuys?!?!?!

We Now Interrupt This Trip Report For the Following Announcement
Originally, I wasn't going to comment on this controversy, but the more I read about it, the more pissed off I get.
I am, of course, talking about the fact that well known blogger Hoyazo played the Bodog Blogger Tournament series under a different account name, and then either wrote a fake blog about his experiences (never writing about his Bodonkey exploits on his own well-read blog), or having other cohorts in cahoots write the "fake" blog entries, most of which were used to trash specific blogger/players, who almost universally had nothing but good things to say about the Bodonkey.
Blinders has written a rather extensive rant on the subject today. In fact, some would call the rant Hoy-worthy. Essentially, Blinders posits that what Hoy did was nothing short of cheating.
I'm not sure I'd go as far as calling what Hoy did as cheating other players, because there is absolutely nothing requiring anyone to play under the same name at every site. He didn't have an account prior to the series, and he was fully within his rights to start an account under a different name.
However, Hoy definitely cheated Bodog out of its earned goodwill and recognition, by not discussing his play in the series on his own blog, which is much more widely read than ICrushBloggers ever was (at least before Hoy completely deleted the ICrushBloggers blog from existence). Nor did he link his widely-read Hammer Player blog to the Bodog Blogger Tournament page, which deprived the series out of a fair number of potential players, and that's a real shame, because Hoy is one of the more prolific and entertaining bloggers out there. The series really could have used the benefit of his writing...especially as he was playing and profiting from it every week.
Bodog went way over and above by adding so many $T every week, never mind the final TOC prizes, and was certainly entitled to have its series put on for bloggers pimped on those blogs, or at least discussed after the fact.
I think the real victims here are Bodog and the greater blogger community, but I can't go so far as to say he cheated, per se. But every act like this does lessen the blogger community in some way, though the narcissists won't be able to see it through the haze of self-importance. Frankly, Love_elf said it best right here.
Quelle bummer.

Go Ahead, Twist My Arm
I just know $mokkee did this just. for. me.
Okay, I keed, but just when I was deciding to bail from playing any more Bodonkeys until the end of the WSOP chase, along comes Bodog with their biggest bounty offer yet:
The BIGGEST Bounty EVER in the history of blogger tournaments will be placed on the head of $mokkee, the Bodog blogger tournament host on Tuesday June 3, 2008.
That's right, Bodog is adding an extra T$270 in value to Tuesday's June 3rd blogger tournament!
The lucky poker blogger to eliminate $mokkee will be rewarded with a seat in Bodog's WSOP* Semifinal 5 Seat Guaranteed Tournament to be held on June 8 at 3:15 pm ET.
Details at http://www.bodogbloggertournament.com
Bloggers from around the globe are invited to participate!

Tune into Live Poker Radio for live tournament recaps and updates while you play at http://www.livepokerradio.com
There's just too much here to resist. I was fortunate enough to collect one of the two pro bounties previously given up in this series (thank you Bobby Bellande!), and just maybe, I can make it two out of three. Truth is, even if I win the bounty, I'll probably have to unreg and take the $Ts for now, just because I'll already be in Vega$ on the 8th, and I didn't go to Sin City to play intrawebby pokerz.
Have a great weekend on the felt. $mokkee...start doing some chin ups, 'cause you're gonna have to be in shape to outlast my chipstack next week.
Oh yeah, I'm playing the $100 15000 chip noon tourney Sunday at Golden Gates -- will try to have a trip report after the fact.
Now, $100 for a starting stack of 15,000 chips sounds really deep-stacked, no? Well, it's really not. Blinds start at 100/100, then go to 100/200, to 100/200/25, etc. It's still one of the best values in Blackhawk, but with the missing levels (including a couple in the middle stages), it's not really deep-stacked. Still, at 30 minute levels, it's not a bad deal.
Bye!

Tuesday Night Bloggerment Pimpage
Update -- I'm playin' cards. See you on the felt.
In what is becoming an all-too-regular occurence for me, my job is truly kicking me in the junk again, so I'll have to hit and run with just a reminder that tonight is both the Bodog Blogger Tournament Series, and the King of Donks' Skillz Game, over at Full Tilt.
Tonight's Skillz game is alleged to be HOE, or a game perfectly suited to us hoe-bag bloggers. I'm unlikely to be playing, unless I bag the Boss Martians show. Actually, that's looking kinda likely, as it appears the opening band doesn't even go on until 10pm, so I may be playing tonight, after all.
However, whether I play one, both, or none, you should clearly play all of them. Bodonkey and Skillz are just too damn much fun.

The Bodog Blogger Tournament Series is down to the final five weeks, running out of chances to get points, but the payoff is HUGE at the end.
Join up and challenge other Poker Bloggers each Tuesday in our Bodog Poker Room and live to tell about it. Earn points and work your way up the Tournament Leader Board for a spot in the final tournament for your chance to win a $12,000 World Series of Poker* prize package and be a part of Team Bodog 2008.
The winner of the final tournament will receive a once in a lifetime opportunity to win a $12,000 WSOP* prize package and be a part of Team Bodog 2008.
How to Participate

Bodog Main Event Satellites
Bodog's starting to run a series of satellites to a final Main Event qualifier. The best part is, it's only five PPs to enter each one. They're running four times a day, once every six hours. Each one awards seats in the final to the top 25 players.
So far, I've played two, each with something like 1900-2000 runners. And so far, I've finished 53rd and...yup, tonight...28th. So sick, but it's my own fault for earlier on misclicking a call of 5,000k with 82o. That 5k may have been the fold equity I needed (when I went out, I was actually about 20th in chips).
Anyway, if you play at Bodog, it behooves to you jump into a couple of these things. They are soft, and cheap. If you qualify, the final details follow:
Final Tournament
The Final Tournament, the "WSOP* Seat Giveaway Finale", will be hosted on Saturday, June 7th at 5:05pm ET. If every qualifier decides to participate, this tournament will have a maximum of 3100 entries. Since players need to qualify their way into this tournament, there will be $0 + $0 buy-in.
The first place finisher of this "WSOP* Seat Giveaway Finale" will win the grand prize of a $12,000 Main Event Prize Package as a member of Team Bodog in the 2008 WSOP. Additional prizing will be distributed as such: 2nd to 5th win T$270 in order to buy-into a "Main Event Semifinal" and 6th to 10th will win T$109 in order to buy-into Bodog's $100,000 Guaranteed Tournament.

Tuesday Bloggerment Donkmania
I can't imagine playing more terribly than I did at last night's Bodonkey, where I went out 36th, I guess. Fun and challenging first table, with bayne, smokee (and LoveElf), Peaker, and even RecessRampage (who was AFK, I suppose).
Picked up AA in the big blind on the 2nd hand, but it folded around to Peaker who folded to my raise to 40. Overshoving for value wasn't going to get a call there. But it was all downhill from there, and frankly, I just didn't play well.
The curtains aren't necessarily closed for me for the final, but I'm 27th with five weeks to go, and the band's tuning up their instruments. Indicative of my season is that I am the lowest ranked player with four points finishes, by a fair margin. Whether it's getting 3-outed on a final table bubble, or going utterly card dead when antes arrive, or shoving AK into AA, I just can't get the one top-3 finish that would likely put me over the hump.
Played worse in the Skillz game, but somehow won enough pots to make it about halfway through. As soon as Waffles sat down, I went out about two hands later, when I tried to bluff out a couple of draws. A shame, because I like watching him work, and I guess he did pretty well in it last night? I'm not really sure why I played, because I really do dislike Stud poker (outside of Razz).
Waffles thought I'd like it better if I was good at it, and while I first thought otherwise, I'd probably have to agree. But I don't think I'm a total fish in the game, as I do fold a lot pre-4th street, play strong draws, and don't overvalue a high pair. But when I'm playing it, I'm just not really enjoying it. Even in HORSE games, I work harder in the first three rounds so that I don't have to mix it up much in Stud and Stud8.
I did manage to have a deep run in Bodog $8k last night, going out 16th, when I shoved AJo from the button into a mid-position min-raiser who showed down AA. When we got to the final two tables, I had about a 7th place stack, but had to fold to a couple of resteals, and by the time of my shove, I was probably more like a 12th or 13th place stack, and had an M of about 5.5. I could have waited, but I didn't read strength into that one minraise. At any rate, that's two cashes in a row in the $8k. Neither of them really deep (final 2 and 3 tables, respectively), but enough to put a bit of confidence back in my game. Oddly enough, I'm not making it that deep in the $3k or $2k rebuy. I've now had four cashes in it (though none higher than 16th), and maybe it represents a sort of sweet spot for me. Or, maybe I'm just seeing most of the right end of variance there, I dunno.
So the forecast is fair to middling, with a bit of bankroll but no championships. That's cool.
Busted My First Bodog Pro
Every picture tells a story, and this one...

says, ship the bounty, baby.
Oh yeah, Vinnay caught a miracle river three outer (all in PF) to knock me out on the final table bubble. So sick. I ended up spending about 90 minutes as chipleader, and a couple beats sent me home. Picked up a few points, but damn, I was really looking at a top 3 finish until that.
Also bubbled the final table of the Bodog $3k, when K2o < 62o. Fuck, I'm really starting to grow frustrated with Bodog's RNG right now. Two fucking final table bubbles in one night, and almost nothing to show for it. I should be able to win ONE effin' 93% hand on a final table bubble. I'll get over it, of course.

Bust A Bodog Pro Tonight
That's right, you heard me -- bust a Bodog pro tonight, at the Bodog Blogger Tournament.
Tonight, a mystery Bodog Poker Pro will join the rest of the blogger community in the Bodog Blogger Tournament Series where a $100 bounty will be placed on the pro's head and the poker blogger who takes his or her last chips in this tournament will receive a $100 credit to their Bodog Member Player Account. If the Bodog Pro wins this tournament, he or she will receive the $100 credit. Details at http://www.bodogbloggertournament.com
I have no idea who it's going to be, but my hunch is we may see the 2004 WSOP Main Event runner-up in the field. At any rate, it's going to be fun. And because everyone knows bloggers pwn pros, tonight's Bodonkey is like carrying an extra $100 overlay. Good times, folks, good time.

Once this is done, they then need to find the "Online Poker Blogger Tournament" in the software and register as they normally would each and every week.
Players are encouraged to register early. If you need assistance with signing up for the tournament or with starting a Bodog member player account, please call Bodog's Poker Customer Service at 1-866-909-2237 or contact us prior to start time at http://www.bodogbloggertournament.com/contact
Tournament prizes, leader board and tournament schedule available at http://www.bodoglife.com/promotions/poker/blogger-tournament/
Come join and drop me further down the leaderboard. With just seven weeks left in the series, there's plenty of time to score Top 18 points, but the finish line is creeping a wee bit closer...

Also, don't forget about Chad's ongoing Blogger Skillz Series, a rotation of non-NLHE tournaments with double-stacks and $2 KO bounties. I have no idea what tonight's game is, but you can be sure to find a good sized field as the Skillz game is BBT3-approved, and the Tournament of Champions is rolling around soon enough. I'm pretty sure you'll find me donking it up there tonight, so who wants my bounty?

It's Tuesday, and you know what that means! Come join us for another edition in the

Seriously, with an extra T$600 up for grabs every night, how can you go wrong?

While you're at it, Chad's continues with another week of his Blogger Skillz Series -- known to be equally maddening yet entertaining, and probably nutritious, as well. He's hosting Stud 8 tonight. I haven't yet decided whether or not to jump into that particular pool. Stud 8 is pretty much my worst game, yet last time through the rotations, I came rolled up K versus rolled up 9 away from a final table stake, so we'll see...but there's BBT3 points at stake, and you can't let this guy into a club that you're not in too, right?

Besides, he'll be there, I'm sure of it.

Bloggerments Shmloggerments
Well, that's about how she goes. Tuesday was definitely my worst ever performance in nightly bloggerments ever, and there's really no one to blame but myself.
In the Bodonkey, I never truly got going, and about 1/2 through the first hour, I raise a flop with ye olde untrustworthy TPTK. AJ soooted, I believe. After being raised, I shoved right into a flopped two pair, and IGH 43rd of 44. Ugh. It didn't seem like a particularly tough table or field that night, either, and I definitely wasted a chance to move up the leaderboard.
Things in the Skillz game were worse...after chipping up to 4k the first orbit, I proceed to go out like 83rd, because I forgot my own cardinal rule about how over 1/2 the field had disabled their fold buttons. I had so many quality hands go down to ugly turns and rivers, it wasn't even funny. Only one time, for a largish pot, did I think the opposing player actually play the kind of hand that should be seeing a raised preflop pot in Limit O8, but whatev, it was still very nearly a great night.
See, remember that $75 token I luckboxed my way into? I finally used it, in Full Tilt's $23k guarantee KO, with $15 for each knockout. There were about 432 runners, with 45 paid. At first, I tread softly, thinking the skill level was going to be higher than I was used to. However, after about 90 minutes, it hit me how many others were probably in on Tier Two tokens, because the play really was no different than the $11 KO MTTs, or the $11 turbo KO 90 player SNGs.
I had to overcome a short stack, after getting three outed by a shorty on the river, which dropped me to about 1600 (3000 starting chips). This make KOs very hard to come by because, chip up as I did for 4+ hours, I was always behind average chips. However, by the time the bubble broke, I was still alive, and working hard. Unfortunately, the fourth hour brought total card death, and with 16 players left (and me 16th in chips, I shoved KQ soooted from 2nd position (UTG had called), and UTG called me with a 66 that held. Still, I was able to turn $14 into a Tier Two, and that token in to $199 plus a single KO bounty. I think it's odd that I could survive past 415 players in a 432 person field, and only have one KO, but my few all ins were always with me as a shorter stack.
In fact, the only two showdowns I lost the entire tourney were the 1st hour 3-outer, and the hand of my demise. Nine showdowns out of about 350 hands, and only seeing 9% of flops. That's MiamiDon poker, I suppose.
Anyway, the field didn't seem that tough, and if I can't be around for the Big Game, I've found a decent use for those Tier Two tokens going forward.
Also played the Bodog $8k guarantee, and went out around 20th or so for a somewhat decent cash, as well. In the end, it was a somewhat profitable night, but performing so poorly in the bloggerments really leaves a sour taste, ya know?
Work is truly kicking me in the junk these days, so we'll have to see how often I can post. I was going for two posts every three days, but I may be lucky to do 2-3 a week, at least until this trial in early June. We'll see how it goes. I'm definitely a no-go for the Heartland Poker Tour qualifiers, because I just can't take the time off work to go up the hill. At least they're back in September, and I'll be rolling in so much OT pay from trial that I can definitely give it a shot.
Tonight's the Mookie, but it started 90 minutes ago....

Tuesday Night Bloggamania (Bodonkey/Skillz)
Oh yeah, out of the way first...last night I managed to take down my 3rd 50-60 runner bar poker tourney in my last seven attempts at a particular juke joint (with one 2nd place, to boot). The most minor brag ever, but it felt good being able to have such a good read on one particular aggressive player that...every time he'd chip up against others, I would immediately take them from him. He was raising most hands in mid to late position with ATC, and was C-betting every flop, and most every turn, whether the board hit him or not. In most cases, he would whiff, and I was able to call these obvious c-bets and then push him out on the river with 1/3 to 1/2 pot bets, more than once with nothing more than 2nd or 3rd pair and a good kicker.
Eventually, he pulled this move in a hand where I'd flopped two overs and nut flush draw, and when the A came on the turn and he overshoved, I knew my top pair was likely good, and had a hell of a re-draw. Turns out he was drawing to a gutshot, and he was drawing near dead.
To him, I say, "I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!" (Actually, I respect his play quite a bit. Most of the table ended up becoming extremely weak/tight as a result, but being able to take advantage of his aggro style by being on his left and having a good read on a decent player just felt so goot.)
Anyway, to more current events:

In addition, tonight is also Chad's Blogger Skillz Series. Tonight we're playing Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, and believe me, over half the field have disabled their fold buttons for this one, no doubt. If a bloggers got a 568T one suited, they'll be calling 3-bets preflop, and quartering the low with with the dude playing 54 low whose 4 was counterfeited.
Lawdy grant me strength as I try to improve upon my 2nd place Razz finish last week. And please, for one night, let me run like Antonius.

See you there!
