Yeah, after last night, I'm taking the rest of the year off from online poker. I'll be frank, I just can't take the beats any longer, particular when applied by certain players I used to think were pretty good, until they started calling off near pot size raises out of position with 76o, and then calling off most of their stack with middle pair no kicker, knowing they're going to hit their miracle river. TonySoprano knows who I'm talking about.
I've lost half my online bankroll in the last four days.
The last few days, where I've been able to put in much more volume than usual, has instead turned into my worst downswing ever. Given the buy-in levels of most events I play, it's hard to even fathom how much I've lost.
I've lost my sanity and bruised my hand, by reacting poorly.
For the most part, I can't play any better poker, and simply can no longer handle having good sized stacks stolen by people who play shitty cards out of position and put their stacks to the test with bottom or middle pair, or even worse, calling off stacks with nothing but turn gutshots -- only for the non-random number generators to fuck me every time without benefit of a reacharound.
I'm not quitting poker. I may start showing up at the Bit (at least next Tuesday), as my old dealer friend Cory's been bugging me to show up. I expect I'll still play live.
And to be honest, I've still got about 7-8x as much online now as I had at the start of the year even after pulling out about 1/2 of an amount that I have left (which may make me better than breakeven Rogues). My 80/20 hands are more like 30/70. My hands that are 95% on the turn to win, in reality, hold up no more than 60% of the time. My pocket AA are no better than a coinflip, at best. So yeah, I need a break before I find myself having to replace a laptop, or drywall, instead of just a wireless mouse.
So, no more Skillz. No more Bodonkey. No more JokerStars. Not until 2009.
Maybe I'll even find a 2nd band to join. If that happens, I'll probably just pull what remains of my roll offline, since money sitting unused is truly dead money. But no more online poker, not even freerolls because really, it's not the dollars, it's the crushing internal head injuries.
On a good note, congratulations to Waffles for taking down BOTH bloggerments last night (and yeah, a chop for 1st is still a win - don't listen to the haters!)

good luck with you break man. I hope you come back refreshed. I can sympathize with your feelings.. if you read me a few months back I was all like "damn suckout".. "I am so unlucky"..
Now people are like "waffles is such a lucksack".. I would like to discuss some of the changes I have made but it is hard to figure it all out. I think the two biggest things are my mentality towards the game.. not being so serious and angry.. and a lot more aggression..
I totally take MTT play for what it is: a lottery ticket. If you are going to make money in poker the steady income is normally SNG or Cash game play.. and MTT is big boost of supplemental income every few months.

Perhaps today you can begin to fathom what it must feel like to be taken for a hundred times more money, on maybe 5,000 more bad beats, and on a far more regular basis. In the past three nights alone I conservatively lost $2000+ in tournament scores due purely to two-outers that occured when the money got in after the flop was out.
Including my own elimination from the bodickey last night. That was one of those hands where I knew the precise two cards my opponent was on (coulda probably named the suits even), got every last dollar of his money in, and still lost to the 3-outer on the turn. And it feels fucking normal man, that's the saddest part. Bodog is undoubtedly the worst site for setups and bad beats, I don't even think that is debatable man.
I believe the real strength though in playing mtt's is coming back for more time and again, anlways maintaining the required mindset to succeed. Something to think about maybe.

FWIW Lucko posted his results of a similar sample size a while ago comparing his PokerStars and Full Tilt ROI. it wasn't even close.

No, Chad -- yours was just one in a reeeeeealy unending line, but as obnoxious as most. But I'm surprised such a fishy play came from someone I'd expect to have played the hand a lot better.
But I dropped close to one large in a four day period --- averaging $10 a buy-in.
You really expect Chad to be a good Poker player? PLEEEEAAAASSSEE!
