I hope he's all I think he'll be. I do think he'll surround himself with people much brighter than I am, and people who actually have the country's best interests in mind, and not a small cabal of their friends.

But that's just it, isn't it? No one can really predict the future, and voting for any candidate involves a certain amount of faith that you're making the right choice.

I've said many times there are certainly valid reasons for a voter to support either candidate over the other. I also think that in this particular case, there are some invalid reasons related to factors such as race-based fear and paranoia, but I don't personally know anyone in my own life to whom I would ascribe that line of thinking.

In my case, a lot of of my decision had to do with knowing that we simply can't afford another four years of "my way or the highway" cowboy diplomacy, because like it or not, we do not live in a one superduperpower world. Not when our economy is inextricably intertwined with so many others', not when our military is too far stretched to be able to be solely responsible for imposing world order, not when much of the civilized world feels like they've been lied to once too often. I believe Obama will be a big part of restoring the world's faith in America, not just our own. But do I know beyond any doubt that will happen with success? No, no one truly can.

I hope in four years, America can look back and say they made the right one.

Hope to see you in the Bodonkey!Mondogaragehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03023431901646281284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38050293.post-29497024535307699772008-10-27T20:43:00.000-06:002008-10-27T20:43:00.000-06:00You know Mondo, I imagine that you are personally ...You know Mondo, I imagine that you are personally one hell of a guy. I like your style and I respect your views. I hope your candidate will be all you think he is. Personally, I think he is underprepared and more talk than action. He was really unknown in my state until "the speech." I took my brother to an Obama speech before all this stuff started. He was very impressed. I was less impressed because of his stand on abortion and instead cheered the protesters outside.

Granted, McCain has been a putz this campaign, but there are plenty of people supporting him that are not quite your stereotype of his followers. We might even think Obama is okay -- as long as he doesn't plan to tax us to death and give handouts to the people in our society who believe the government's role is to take care of them.

One week to go!lightning36https://www.blogger.com/profile/05641629003610446976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38050293.post-40652744501250644002008-10-27T11:51:00.000-06:002008-10-27T11:51:00.000-06:00I was there!http://www.greeleytribune.com/article/...I was there!

http://www.greeleytribune.com/article/20081027/NEWS/110279997/1001&title=Obama’s%20‘Joe%20the%20Believer’Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08837529956827141862noreply@blogger.com
